We are situated in the calm outer quarter of Groß Flottbek near the Elbe river as two connected houses. One can enjoy the fresh air by taking a walk onto the lawn between the two houses or into one of the courtyards.
Well known strips like the Reeperbahn and the Schanzen quarter are about the same distance from here as the university campus, more or less 15 minutes with the S-Bahn starting at Othmarschen station. For relaxed (laid-back) cinema visits you can find the UCI right around the corner. If you like to go for walks you get your money’s worth: Down to the riverside at the Elbe it takes you about 20 minutes by foot, as well as to the park “Jenischpark” or to the botanic garden.
Three minutes by foot you find a Spar supermarket. At about 10 minutes walking distance you can find the cheaper supermarkets Aldi, Lidl, and Penny. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a farmers’ market on the parking lot at the Aldi supermarket. At the Othmarschen S-Bahn-station lays the tiny, exclusive shopping street “Waitzstraße”. About 20 minutes from the hall, there is the “Elbe-Einkaufszentrum” shopping mall. You can also shop in small shops and another shopping mall in the popular, trendy quarter “Ottensen”, starting at Altona station, only 2 stops from Othmarschen station.
Arrival by train
Starting at the Hamburg Central Station, the S-Bahn (suburban railway) S1 (in the direction of Wedel or Blankenese, passing Altona) reaches Othmarschen station within about 20 minutes. In the morning and in the evening at the rush hour you can also use the S-Bahn S11. From Othmarschen station, it takes 10 minutes by foot to the house. If you have a lot of (heavy) luggage you can take one of the waiting taxis. Hamburg public transport –>
